1 |
On your primary AppleShare IP Server, make sure you've created
user entries in the Users & Groups List window for all the users
for whom you want to provide mail service. |
|
For instructions, see Creating users. |
2 |
Export the Users & Groups Data File on your primary AppleShare
IP Server. |
|
For instructions, see Exporting Users & Groups. |
3 |
Copy the exported file to another medium, such as a floppy disk,
and drag it to the hard disk of the new computer on which you
want to run the Mail Server. |
4 |
Install the Mail Server on the new computer, following the Custom
Installation instructions in the AppleShare IP Getting Started
manual. |
|
You only need to install the Mail Server software and AppleShare
IP Easy Setup. |
|
IMPORTANT: The second computer must meet the same system software and hardware
requirements specified in the Getting Started manual. |
5 |
Double-click the AppleShare IP Easy Setup program on the second
computer, and follow the instructions that appear. |
|
When you're asked to enter your AppleShare IP serial number, type
the same serial number you entered on your primary AppleShare
IP 6.0 server. For instructions, see your AppleShare IP Getting
Started manual. |
|
IMPORTANT: When prompted to start the servers, click the checkbox so that
the X disappears. Do not start the servers at this time. |
6 |
When you're asked to open the AppleShare IP Manager, click to
open the manager. |
|
The AppleShare IP Manager program opens. |
7 |
Click the Open AppleShare IP Mail Admin button. |
|
The Mail Admin program opens. |
8 |
Import the previously exported Users & Groups Data File. |
|
Since mail password settings are not retained when you export
the Users & Groups Data Dile, you may want to add that information
back in using a spreadsheet program before you import the user
file. For instructions on importing or editing files before importing,
see Importing users files. |
9 |
Enable Mail service for each of the imported users on the new
computer. |
|
For instructions, see Enabling and disabling mail service. |
10 |
Make sure the AppleShare IP Mail Server is no longer running on
the primary (first) computer. Or, remove the Apple Share IP Mail
Server folder and related files from the first AppleShareIP Server
computer. |
|
IMPORTANT: Running multiple copies of the AppleShare IP Mail Server using
the same serial number is a violation of your AppleShare IP license
agreement. |
|
Note: To see a list of the mail items that were installed when you
installed the Mail Server, see your "AppleShare IP 6.0 Getting
Started" manual. |
